Italian conductor Marcello Viotti is the new "Direttore Artistico" of the Gran Teatro La Fenice and the Teatro Malibran in Venice.

His goals are:

• Reconstruction and reopening of the burned down Teatro La Fenice
  

• Creation of an international opera studio for young Italian singers
  

• Promotion of Italian composers who lived in Venice and worked in the field of opera and concert, such as Giuseppe Sinopoli, Bruno Maderna, Luigi Nono and Nino Rotta
  

• 8 new productions per year: 4 at the Teatro Malibran and 4 at the Gran Teatro La Fenice
